RSCTA Fun Day - Saturday October 24th 2009

The RSCTA Fun Day 2009 was held in Stoke St Milborough, Ludlow, Shropshire on October 24th. The day was a lot of fun as usual and produced a large number of Good Citizen Rough Collies and another Good Citizen Smooth! Well done to all. 

Our 2009 Members' Fun Day was held at the home of our Vice-Chairman, Liz Beaumont.  Despite fears of bad weather we were lucky with a fairly good day, with some drizzle in the morning and a dry afternoon. Some 23 Collies attended, along with their owners.  On offer were 'have-a-go' agility and obedience, good citizens tests and games.  In the morning everyone practised their agility, and then in the afternoon took part in an agility competition.  It was particularly satisfying to see so many Collies competing, after training at various Fun Days. In the games some fast (and not so fast) recalls were demonstrated and obstacles negotiated. 

Gaining places in the ‘advanced’ agility competition were Pat Thompson & Dusty (Sheltie), Jan Milligan & Honey, Sandra Newton & Holly. And in the ‘beginners’: Jane Page & Jasper (X-breed), Charlotte Yeo & Millie, Jane Page & Tolly, Sandy Metcalf & Toby, Sandy Metcalf & Weya, Delia Moores & Sherry.

All those of us who attended would like to thank Liz Beaumont and her family for their hospitality and for the use of their land and agility equipment. Due to the poor weather forecast the idea of a BBQ was abandoned and Liz provided a splendid buffet lunch. Many members kindly brought cakes and puddings so we were spoilt for choice. Penny Evans and Pat Thompson kindly tested the two Good Citizens levels, and Liz’s friend Sue helped in various roles throughout the day, and Colin Page was our photographer (see below).
