Kennel Club Agility Warrant

The Kennel Club already offers a Junior Warrant (JW) for young show dogs, a Show Certificate of Merit (ShCM) for older show dogs, and an Obedience Warrant. All give the dog letters after its name, in the same way that ‘Ch’ is added at the front. Here are the main details of the Agility Warrant, more details of which can be found on the Kennel Club website.

The aim is to reward dogs which aren’t fast enough to win up through the levels, but are consistent
Dogs which gain this can carry the letters 'AW' after their name
Points can be gained at ANY level at KC-licensed championship and open shows, by ANY sized dog
The scheme started on 1st July 2004 and results must be entered in an Agility Record Book (books available for £1.50 including p&p from the KC Publications Dept in London, tel. 0207 518 1016)
200 points are needed for the award to be claimed, at least 25% of which (50) must be gained in agility (not jumping) classes. Only KC-defined classes count, NOT specials (ABC, graduate, helter skelter etc)
Points can be scored by clear rounds only (not for faults even if placed), for placings 1st to 10th, and ALSO for lower placings, AND unplaced clear rounds, provided these are within the course time
Agility class scores are: 20 for 1st, 19 for 2nd... to 11 for 10th, 2 points for lower placing or clear round
Jumping class scores are: 10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd... to 1 for 10th, 1 point for lower placing/clear round
No time limit

UPDATE 1/1/07

As of 1st January 2007, changes in the Agility Warrant mean that a dog gaining 200 points now obtains the AW Bronze title
Points can be backdated to 1st July 2004 and can continue to be collected to enable dogs to work towards their AW Silver and AW Gold titles by gaining 400 and 800 points, respectively
